3、 Active or passive

Although the active speaker is more convenient in the selection, especially in the range of 1000-2000. When your budget is high to a certain extent, you will find that although the active source is a little more worry free, it does not save money at all, but costs a lot of money to achieve the same price and passive effect! As the price increases, your requirements will increase, and the system will become more complex. At this time, active power will even lose its advantages in convenience, and its disadvantages will be more prominent.

For example: most of the high-end active power has no front-end function, and there is only power amplifier in the speaker. This means that you need a front stage, plus a sound source or something. At the same time, the distance between speakers is widened, and the long signal line is also a problem. It is only three pieces in one. There are two power lines, a pair of RCA signal lines and a pair of horn cables. The effect on the desktop is quite good. If the computer as the sound source, two sets of can, wiring is very simple. It's cost-effective, but it's only 4K.

4、 The first question to choose a stereo: the size of your environment

There are considerable differences in the acoustics of desktop, small room (less than 15 square meters), medium and large rooms (more than 15 square meters and most people's living room) and special large listening room (more than 20 square meters after special acoustic treatment).

5、 How many speakers do you need

If it's for desktop use, the speaker can be up to 5 inches, including small rooms. Of course, if there is some acoustic treatment, the small room 6.5 inches is more than enough. In general, a six inch box is enough for a room. Only rooms with sound insulation that have been specially acoustically treated (i.e. listening to room sound) need larger speaker units to allow you to enjoy lower diving, more relaxed low frequencies, and better dynamics and levels.

Excellent 5-inch unit, the low frequency is enough for general music appreciation. Even in a large room, high-quality 6.5-inch low-frequency is enough. Its low-frequency is much stronger than many 8-inch AV boxes.

6、 Your use is also important

Mainly listening to music or watching movies? What kind of music do you like to listen to? These are all important!

Here, I would like to say that 5.1 is not necessary for household use. It can be said that it is a waste. 5.1 it will not only lead to a lot of lines in your living room, but also the chance to open the sound is almost zero (of course, you have a villa when I didn't mention it). If you really dare to speak up, don't talk about your family, even your neighbors will be bored to death! On the other hand, 5.1 most people choose the cheap and big AV box. The biggest advantage of this kind of speaker is big, not only the appearance is big, but also the sound is big (AV box is usually easy to push). But if you listen to music, in addition to the low-frequency can shock you (although the low-frequency quality is basically roaring), the analysis and sound field are far from comparable to the well-designed hifi speakers.

On the other hand, with the exception of a few well-designed hifi, they can basically be used as cinema boxes (except for some old large horns, full frequency small speakers, etc.). But on the other hand, it is basically not possible. Even for low-end AV boxes of big brands such as B & W, focus and Dana, it is still difficult to meet the needs of enthusiasts. Now almost all the big brands are out of the AV box, and some brands have completely abandoned the hifi market.

7、 What brand do you need to choose

Generally speaking, the major speaker brands in the world have their own characteristics. It's not hard to choose a brand when you know your listening preferences, but you have to be aware that they all have their own advantages and disadvantages. For example, after the rain, it is famous for its musical flavor, in which the voice and string music are very charming, but in the low frequency and analysis, they are weaker; B & W (Baohua) high-end speaker has its own unique flavor, brilliant and gorgeous, but some people like it, others don't like it (the author doesn't like it); Dana's medium and high-end is neutral and transparent, with first-class analytical power, but it has high requirements on the surrounding areas, slightly If there is a sound, it will make a bad sound; ATC is the best in the world with its medium frequency, but it is very difficult to push; the voice of TAD is extremely accurate, but the high frequency and fine degree of horn are not high;the high frequency of focal (French strong wave) is very delicate and pleasant to listen to, but the medium and low frequency may also make people dislike.

8、 Can domestic brands be chosen?

Although many old cooks look down on domestic products, I still think it is optional. However, there are many good brands in China for sound source, decoding, power amplifier, especially gall machine, but there are not many good sound box brands. There are masterpieces, HP whirlwind, Bo Liang, and the new average law. The products are not all good, famous classics are only a few models. In addition, MC15 of sound technology and monitor No. 1 of voice of beauty are very good, but they are difficult to push well. Therefore, domestic old speaker brands can still be considered, but for some completely unknown brands and some major cinema brands, it is better to pay more attention to the fact that some foreign products are domestic ones.

9、 Can DIY choose?

The design of sound box is a test of the level of things, need long-term listening experience and careful adjustment, supplemented by scientific design. I have launched a pair of entry-level Hi-Fi boxes, or not difficult 5-inch coaxial (natural sound ns16), used for desktop and small room listening to music. As a result, after more than a year's work, six versions of the light horn unit were changed, seven pairs of boxes were made, and countless other changes were made. This is still in their own relatively strong speaker factory and have many years to develop speaker under the help of friends, can be considered barely meet the requirements. I know how difficult it is to develop a sound box. A good speaker is definitely made slowly. The development cost will never be low, but the sales volume will not be too high, so the price is far higher than DIY.

In the spare time, it is almost impossible to make a good sound by holding a good unit. Therefore, choose DIY more carefully, unless you have heard of it or know it very well.

10、 Do you need to monitor or Hi-Fi

In fact, this is a false proposition! But at present, there are too many people who think that monitoring and Hi-Fi are incompatible. In fact, many big brands do both monitoring and Hi-Fi. Their good products are good for monitoring and Hi-Fi. Many people regard the brands that are not monitored by Hi-Fi, such as after the rain, Dana, B & W, ATC, etc., are the big shots in the monitoring industry. Many of the world's famous recording studios use these brands.

In the design of Hi-Fi speaker, the frequency response smoothness of + / - 3dB in anechoic chamber is the basic requirement (except AV box). At this level, there is no big problem with the reducibility of the recording. However, it is impossible that the frequency response of the speaker is completely flat, so there will always be some flavor in it. Different manufacturers have different design requirements, which leads to a variety of voices.

For monitoring that must separate yourself from Hi-Fi, I advise you to be more careful. And vice versa.

One last thing to say: nothing can replace your ears! This is especially true when your budget is high to a certain level. Find a place to try it yourself and make some comparisons. It is more important than anything! Although you will spend some time and even travel expenses for this, you choose the sound you like, and the cost savings are often the bulk of it!
